Ahwiaa (Ash), March 27, GNA - Residents of Ahwiaa in the Kwabre District have acquired a piece of land at Buokrom Estate to build a police station at the cost of 250 million cedis.

The project would be financed through contributions of 200,000 cedis each household and fund-raising harvests.

Mr Francis Ampadu, Chairman of the Ahwiaa Landlords Association who announced this at a meeting of the association on Sunday, said the project would take off before the end of the year. Mr Ampadu, who is the assemblyman for Tafo-Ahenbronum in the Kumasi metropolis, appealed to the residents to pool their resources towards the face lifting of the area.

Superintendent Paul Tettey, the Asawasi District Police commander, said the police in the metropolis have stepped up their patrols to help clamp down on criminals to ensure peace and order in the metropolis and its environs.
