Ahafo-Ano North drivers complain deplorable state of feeder roads

Tepa (Ash), Aug 20, GNA - A group of drivers in the Ahafo-Ano North District have expressed concern over the deplorable conditions of feeder roads in the district although they had been awarded to some contractors since 2006.

They have appealed to the Minister of Transportation to institute full-scale investigations into why the roads have been abandoned, a situation affecting business and commerce in the area. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Tepa at the weekend, Mrs Kofi Sammy and Mr Kwabena Boateng, spokespersons for the drivers, cited the 16.5-kilometre Anyinasuso/Betiako road awarded to the M/A Western Link in September 2006 scheduled to have been completed within 12 months and wondered why the project is nowhere near completion. They said work on the 55-kilometre Manfo-Odumase road awarded to Kowoad Ventures in June 2006 to be completed within 18 months is also yet to start.

"The nine-kilometre Suponso/Nkrankrom stretch of road is also growing from bad to worse with the rainy season because the M/S Aljowus Company, the contractor it was awarded to, has decided not to even start work on the road", they said. Mr Sammy and Mr Boateng however praised M/S Kwamona, the contractor working on the 3.4-kilometre Twabidi-Beposo road for his efficient work.
