Afraim Plains North Championing Development- DCE

The Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly has embarked on
developmental projects to fulfill the social contract it has with the
people of Afram Plains.

The District Chief Executive of the Kwahu Afram Plains North District
Assembly , Windham Emil Afram in an interview indicated, government has
social contract with the people of the area and therefore have to make sure
all the needs of the people are catered for and promptly administered.

Many communities in the country lack basic amenities such as school
building, hospitals, water, good roads etc. And these have made the people
of Kwahu Afram Plains North District in the Eastern Region of Ghana very
disturbed, hence the need to execute developmental projects.

The Assembly through their share of the common fund, district development
fund and internally generated fund has constructed mechanized water at
Donkokrom Zongo, Gbitugbi, and Amankwa – Tornu Communities. A community
information Centre (ICT)has been constructed in the District Capital,
Donkokrom. Adequate sanitation facilities in Ateka, Nana Badu and other
communities. An area council and community centre is ninety percent
complete at Donkokrom. A new lorry park for mini buses has been constructed
in the District capital. The main market has been constructed with over
five hundred sheds with butchery and 50 stores. The main road from the
Donkokrom Police Station to the Hospital has been covered with bitumen
making it motorable. A 120 killometre virgin road from Fosso-Battor to
Dwarf Island has been constructed. This has created access road to the
Dwarf Island without necessarily traveling with a boat on the Volta lake.
