Ada Traditional Council to establish Ada Tourism Board

Big Ada, June 14, GNA - The Ada Traditional Council is to establish an Ada Tourism Board to develop tourism potentials and generate income for people in the area.

A report submitted by the Income Generating Committee, set up by the Council noted that tourism remained a potential revenue earner to boost the economy in the area.

On measures to generate revenue to support developmental projects in the area the Committee targeted Tourism, Aquaculture and Agriculture. It asked the Council to negotiate with the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporean Relations to include the area in its activities to attract investors to the area during Golden Jubilee Celebration of Ghana's Independence next year.

The report called on the Council to seek expert advice on the suitability of lands in the area to recommend types of crops and fruits to be cultivated.

Nene Osrama Gaduga, a member of the Committee, expressed concern about the Government and people concentrating much attention on the Songhor Lagoon although the area abounds in other resources that could be utilized to generate more income for the people to improve their standard of living.

He therefore, appealed to Government to diversify its economic interest in the area to enable the Dangme East Assembly generate funds to develop the area.
