About 400 people in Bawku to benefit from NAP

Bawku (U/E), June 14, GNA - About 400 people are benefiting from the National Apprenticed Programme in the Bawku Municipality, Garu-Tempane and the Bawku West districts.

The programme is aimed at providing vocational training for the youth to enable

them acquire skills for employment. Mr Mahamma Ayariga, the Deputy Minister of Education, said this when he

launched the programme and donated 120 sewing machines, 18 electrical equipment,

100 automobile machines and 100 hair driers on behalf of the Council for Vocational

and Technical Institutes to the assemblies at the weekend in Bawku. Mr Ayariga said it was to show the government's commitment to generate more

human resources for the country through technical and vocational programme. He said the government had seen the need to revamp the vocational and technical

programme because it was the only area that could promote rapid development= .. Mr Abduliah Musah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku Municip= al,

appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity because it was

going to help them transform their lives and their communities. The District Chief Executive for the Garu-Tempane district, Mr Davi= d

Adakurugu, said the interventions were part of the Better Ghana Agenda and they

could only feel it when they acquired skills from their training. Mr Adakurugu said aside the training tools, the government was going to pay

for the training cost.
