Abodom unit committee members resign

All 15 elected Unit Committee Members of the Agona Abodom Electoral Area, have resigned citing personal reasons.

They announced their resignation on Monday, a day ahead of their official inauguration.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Mr John Agyabeng and his entourage, who had gone to perform the inauguration, were informed about the resignation on arrival at the chief's palace.

Mr George Forson, Assemblyman for Abodom North Electoral Area, who broke the news to the officials, said he also had wind of the resignation from one Mrs Evelyn Doudu, a government appointee and Women organiser of the Agona West constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Assemblyman said the message was passed on to the regent and Omankrado, Nana Fii Kwaw, and other Sub-Chiefs of the town.

The DCE had to cancel the ceremony because of the resignations.

Mr Agyabeng expressed shock about the resignation of the entire membership of the committee and bemoaned the huge sums of money the government spent on their election last year.
