Students of Abetifi College of Education in the Eastern region demonstrated today to protest against certain actions of the principal of the college.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem, spokesperson for the Students Representative Council (SRC), Alex Opoku said, the students were billed by the school with the promise that, the Information and Communication Technology Lab (ICT) was going to be refurbished but, that has not been done.

According to him, the school also promised to make provision for routers but till date, the routers are yet to be fixed after they paid for it.

He added the school has locked up the ICT lab with students not having access to the facility.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Ghana has billed the school for internet charges whereas they have not used the facility.

He said, although they are pursuing ICT as a course, they do not have access to the facility; a situation he opined is dangerous for them.

'How can I teach someone when I have not practically undergone this course? Am I told to tell my student to hit his desktop computer when he ask me how it is operated?'' he quizzed further.

The students have also accused Rev. D.K Bosea-Gyinantwi of financial misappropriation and have alleged that he has refused to release feeding grants they paid back to them.

Alex Opoku added that they were forced by the college's administration to pay feeding fee because the school lacked funds to feed them.

'The principal refused to feed students who could not afford the feeding fee and now that government has released our feeding grants to cover what we paid for, he has refused to give our monies back,' he said.

He indicated that they will continue to protest until their concerns are addressed.
