AIDS Commission official praises CBOs and NGOs

Dormaa-Ahenkro, Dec 1, GNA- Mr Haruna Abdulai, Dormaa District Monitoring and Evaluation Focal Person of the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC), has commended community-based organizations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in the District for their judicious use of funds provided by the commission.

He said hard work and commitment to duty exhibited by the CBOs and NGOs, coupled with effective monitoring and supervision of their activities and programmes, had resulted in the attainment that excellence.

Mr. Abdulai, who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), urged them not to rest on their oars but to work harder to sensitise the people about the prevention of the pandemic.

Mr. Abdulai commended the District AIDS Committee for its efforts in educating the people, including traditional rulers, farmers and other professional bodies, about the disease and avoid contracting it.

He appealed to churches, institutions, Unit Committees and Area and Town Councils to support the efforts of the CBOs and NGOs in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
