A 149,400 Ghana cedis Community Centre for Supresu inaugurated

Supresu(ER), Sept. 7, GNA - Mr Michael Kofi Mensah, Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Chief Executive has expressed concern about the poor academic performance of students in the district. He said Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results in the district were not impressive and called on teachers, parents and all stakeholders in education to collaborate to find a lasting solution to the problem. Mr Mensah was inaugurating a 149,400 Ghana cedis Community Centre built by management of Hunger Project Ghana, an NGO at Supresu near Suhum. The centre comprises a kindergarten, community bank, conference hall and public place of convenience. Mr Mensah commended managements of NGOs operating in the district in their efforts to complement government's efforts to provide basic social amenities to rural dwellers. He appealed to the people to maintain the centre to prolong its life span. Mr Mensah gave the assurance that the on-going electrification project in the district would be extended to the area and the centre connected to the national grid. Dr Naana Agyemang Mensah, Country Director of Hunger Project-Ghana, said it was established to assist rural dwellers to improve their living standards. She said other communities that had benefited from the project were, Asarekrom, Dome and Govinakrom. Dr Naana Mensah commended the people and assembly for their support towards the early completion of the centre.
