3 accidents kill Constable, 70-yr-old man & UDS graduate

A general constable and two others – a graduate of the University of Development Studies and a 70-year-old private security man – were killed in three separate car accidents in the Upper West regional capital, Wa Sunday.

Apart from the accident involving the Constable, the two others are suspected to be hit-and-run incidents.

General Constable Bayuo Gaiton died at the Wa Regional hospital later in the day after sustaining injuries from the crash.

His killer-driver, Musah Adams, 38, was driving a minibus with registration number GT 2720T with passengers on board from Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region to Wa, when he collided into the Police Officer who was riding an unregistered motorbike in the opposite direction.

The General Constable’s body is at the morgue pending autopsy. The Driver has been released on police enquiry bail after handing himself in.

In the two other accidents, which killed 25-year-old UDS graduate Dakora Joshua and the 70-year-old Dauda Abdul Rahman, the killer-drivers sped off after the crash, leaving the bodies by the road side.

The Commander of the Upper West Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Joseph Oppong has said investigations are being done to bring the two hit-and-run drivers to justice.
