2 collapse, scores rendered homeless in Adjiringanor demolition

Two residents of the Adjiringanor community in Accra have been rushed to the hospital after collapsing amid a demolition exercise, which resulted in the destruction of their properties.

The exercise was carried out by a task force, which raided the homes of the affected residents, in the company of police officers.

The police, who told residents they were working under a directive, explained to the people that their buildings were being pulled down because they acquired the plots of land illegally.

The demolition, which is currently ongoing affected many buildings including shops, offices and houses.

A shocked victim of the demolition exercise told Starr News they were all taken aback by the development.

“The way my voice is even shaking. Something is even happening to me… They say the land is not for us.

“I, for instance, I paid for the land two times… The police who are here are even more than 50… they are here, police and other people have come to demolish everything!” he complained.
