15 persons arrested for planning to cause harm

Sunyani, Dec 10, GNA - The Tain Police Election Patrol Team have arrested 15 suspected persons who allegedly planned to commit crime on elections day at Seikwa in Tain district of Brong Ahafo. Police Superintendent Charles Domanbay, Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer, who disclosed this to the GNA said the suspects were arrested by the Tain district election police patrol team upon a tip off. They had on them in a pick up vehicle, offensive implements and two containers, one of which was suspected to contain chloroform and the other pepper spray.

A further search on the vehicle revealed a metal hammer, a metal bar and some Presidential sample ballot papers thumb printed for NDC's Professor Atta Mills.

Superintendent Domanbay named some of the suspects as Kofi Paul, 29, Kwaku Kosa, 27, Yaw Domfeh, 22, John Obour, 21, Tawiah Francis and Anthony Agyemang, 29.

He said the driver of the pickup vehicle told the police that gave the suspects a lift, adding that, none of the suspects had claimed ownership of the items found in the vehicle. The Regional Crime Officer said the suspect had been charged with possessing implements intended for unlawful entry and preparation to commit crime.
