15 communities receive free mosquito treated nets

Mpakadan (E/R), June 11, GNA- Trashy Bags Limited, a plastic waste recycling company, had so far distributed 5,000 free mosquito treated nets to some 15 communities in the Eastern, Greater Accra and Volta Regions.

Mr Kwabena Osei Bonsu, Chief Executive of the company announced this when he distributed 1,000 of the nets to six communities along the coastal area of the Eastern Region on Wednesday. The communities were Mpakadan, Kpong, Anyansu, Akosombo, Small London and Atimpoku.

Mr Osei Bonsu said so far the company had spent GH¢15,000 on the distribution of the nets and had also offered free medical services to communities, since the company launched is campaign on the eradication of malaria in the country two months ago. He said the problem of sanitation should not be the sole responsibility of the government alone, but must involve all Ghanaians. Mr Osaei Bonsu called on religious bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations and individuals to join hands in the fight against malaria.

He said the exercise would be extended to other regions as part of the campaign. Mr Osei Bonsu expressed the hope that if all would help fight the disease, the country would be malaria free by the year 2015.
