Age doesn’t matter; I can lead PNC – Mornah

The outgoing General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has rubbished reports he is too young and for that matter incompetent to lead the party as its chairman.

Bernard Mornah said attempts by certain elements within the party to use age as a yardstick for measuring his capability to occupy the chairmanship position is unfortunate.

He was responding to reports making round among delegates of the party that some persons interested in the chairmanship position are propagating falsehood about the supposed age requirement for the position.

“I cannot stop them from their campaign message of using age,” the PNC chairman-aspirant told Starr News’ Papisdaff Abdullah.

“What I can say is that at my age, Kwame Nkrumah was leader of a newly claimed independent country. Before my age, Jesus Christ had come to perform all his miracles and wonders and gone because he started at 12 and by 33 he was gone”.

He added: “Maybe if he was in PNC and we have the likes talking about age, they will not have given him the opportunity to perform his magic to lead Christianity that has even become a commercial entity in the world.”

Mornah is seeking election as chairman of the PNC against the likes of outgoing party treasurer David Apasera.

“National chairmanship does not require age; it requires competence and integrity. It requires ability to move and give direction and vision. I have all these attributes, and if at 42 I’m considered a young man then I don’t know what it means,” Mornah stated.

The National Delegates’ Congress of the PNC has been postponed to December 11 to allow the elections committee of the party rectify irregularities that could mar the process.
