Hajia Mahama is new NDC Women Organiser

Hajia Joyce Zainab Mahama, a 52- year- old professional teacher was on Saturday elected as the new National Women Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Wa.

Hajia Mahama polled 314 votes from the 583 delegates who cast their votes, defeating Hajia Mariam Sinare, who polled 178 votes and Margaret Chiravira who garnered 78 votes.

Hajia Mahama until the election was a former Deputy Women Organiser to Anita de Sosso, as well as Margaret Chiravira.

The newly elected Women Organiser hails from Bole in the Northern Region.

Two new Deputy Women Organisers were also elected with Dr (Mrs) Catherine Deynu, a 42 year old Health and Social Worker emerged as the first Deputy Women Organiser out of the 10 women who contested for the post.

She won with 304 votes, pushing Hajia Fati Osman down to the second Deputy Women Orgniser post with 129 votes.

In her victory statement, Hajia Mahama promised to run an open administration and bringing everyone on board to win the 2016 polls.

She said her victory would be meaningful to all, especially the NDC if all marshal forces to win the 2016 election for the party to implement its development agenda to improve the lives of the people.

The election was peaceful and there was jubilation when the Electoral Commission announced the results.
