CPP big wigs told to cease verbal war

Agbozume, Aug 22, GNA - Mr Prince Ahiadzro, Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Volta Regional Chairman has condemned the unceasing verbal war and infighting among some key personalities of the Party and appealed for a ceasefire.

He said the key figures in the Party should rather use their clout to promote the growth of the Party rather than the acrimony, which could weaken and destroy the Party. Mr Ahiadzro cautioned that young people, who might want to join the Party, could change their minds out of disillusionment. He was addressing the Ketu-South CPP Delegates Conference at Agbozume to elect new executives, as part of preparations towards the Volta Regional, as well as the national delegates' congress. Mr Ahiadzro said the CPP needed to attract more of the youth to change the perception that it was a party for the aged. He said leaders of the Party must learn and apply the techniques of mobilization from its founder.

Mr Ahiadzro advised the youth to support the CPP to restore their lost hopes in the previous and current regimes. Mr Emmanuel Abuya, former Constituency Second Vice Chairman emerged as the new Chairman, defeating Mr Adjei Ashiboe-Mensah with 120 votes to 53, while Grace Mensah became the new Women's Organizer.
