BA, Ashanti branches of DFP throw weight behind talks with NDC

Accra, July 29, GNA - The executives of the Brong Ahafo and Ashanti Regional branches of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), have thrown their weight behind talks their leaders are having with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reconcile the two sides. The two regions, in separate statements to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, said they were giving their mandate to the leadership of the party led by its Life Patron Dr Obed Asamoah to continue with the discussions on their behalf.

The statement from the Brong Ahafo Region was signed by Nana Boadi Antoh, Regional Chairman, while that of the Ashanti Region was signed by Mr Matthias Gollo, Chairman, Robert Nantwi, Treasurer, Ubaidatu Iddrisu Sika, Women's Organiser and Ellyass Abdul-Salam, Obuasi Constituency Chairman on behalf of constituency chairpersons. The statement from the Ashanti Region read: 93We state emphatically that we in the Ashanti Region solidly support our leadership led by our veteran politician, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, in the on-going talks with the National Democratic Congress and we urge the leadership to speed up the process for we are of the opinion that whatever they may come up with will be in the best interest of the party and Ghana will be the greatest beneficiary."

The statement from the Brong Ahafo Region said: 93We wish to assure all and sundry that the overwhelming majority of the members of the DFP in the Brong Ahafo Region are fully behind our national leaders and we thank them for their efforts so far." The DFP broke away from the NDC, and talks are said to be in the final stages for the two sides to reconcile.
