NPP elects new executives for Wa constituency

WA, Dec. 8, GNA - Mr. Ali Kamara, Wa Central Constituency Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party defeated two others including the former Wa Municipal Chief Executive to become the party's new constituency chairman at a congress held at Wa at the week end.

He polled 256 votes against 228 by Alhaji Iddrisu Umar a leading Party activist in the constituency while Mr. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, the former MCE had 103 votes.

Mr. Mutawkilu Abu gathered 386 votes to defeat Mr. John Ibrahim Donkor, the constituency organizer to become the First Vice-Chairman with the position of Second Vice-Chairman going to Mr. Labibu Issah, who secured 350 votes against 237 votes by Mr. Sherif Salifu, a Teacher. Mr. Iddrisu Alhassan Bomson became the new Secretary when he polled 260 votes to emerge winner in a keenly contested field of four aspirants with his closest rival Mr. Mahama Umar obtaining 142 votes while Messrs Separatus Ongoh and Yahaya Abdul-Salam Umar had 128 votes and 57 votes respectively. Mr. Osman Abdul-Hamid obtained 330 votes as against 258 by Ibrahim Salifu Tiani to become the new Assistant Secretary. In a keenly contested position of Constituency organizer, Mr. Haruna Tiraa, a Nursing Tutor, polled 296 votes to defeat Mr. Osman Issahaque, an Assembly man for Dobile Electoral Area.

Mr. Muniru Abudu beat Umar Nuhu by 327 votes to 259 to become the Youth Organizer while in the contest for the position of Women's Organizer, Madam Anatu Ibrahim got 283 votes to defeat Madams Barata Adamu and Adia Mumuni who had 209 and 94 votes respectively.

Mr. Muslim Ibrahim is the new Treasurer after he polled 295 votes to defeat Mr. Yussif Yakubu Sungumo who had 158 votes while Mr. Abdul Fatau Adams raked in 131 votes. The delegates were divided into two groups while elections were held simultaneously in a cordial atmosphere at the Wa Senior High School and the NJ Ahmadiyya College of Education without any significant breach of the peace.
