Yaw Baah re-elected as NPP candidate for the Kumawu Constituency

Kumawu (Ash), June 6, GNA - Mr Yaw Baah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu on Thursday, was re-elected the Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a primary held at Kumawu in the Ashanti region.

The election, which was conducted and supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), saw the incumbent MP polled 87 votes out of the 107 total ballots cast. His opponent, Mr. Ofori Adusei, a Legal Practitioner had 19 votes. The primary was the second round to be held, after the first one ended in a tie.

Addressing delegates after the election, Mr Baah, who is also a legal practitioner, thanked them for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to be committed to duty to enhance the party's chances in the December polls.

He called for unity of purpose among party supporters in the Constituency and said a divided house could not stand and that they should bury their differences and rallied behind the party for the achievement of their objectives. Mr Daniel Akwasi Adusei, the Constituency Chairman of the party praised the delegates for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves at the election adding that, they stepped up their campaign to the benefit of the party in the Constituency. 6 June 08
