Pressure group against Akwasi Osei Adjei's Re-election

PRESS CONFERENCE ON RE-ELECTION OF HON. KWASI OSEI ADJEI

Honourable Akwasi Osei Adjei has been a member of parliament for the Ejisu-Juaben Constituency since 1996. His almost 12 years reign has seen no progress in our dear constituency. Currently rumours going round have it that Mr. Kwasi Osei Adjei wants to seek the votes of his constituency executive at the next constituency delegates? conference to enable him to seek the mandate of the electorate as the MP once again.

Our group as a concern and pressure group is utterly against his decision to stand for election as an MP for the 4th consecutive time. Although that is his legal right, we will do everything within the legal boundaries to ensure that it does not become a reality since he has been a failure to the constituency. His office has been characterized with self-seeking and log-rolling.

This is a general consensus all over the constituency. We have been to every corner and cranny of our constituency for an opinion poll before we made this bold decision.

Our decision is based on the following facts and issues:

1. Low infrastructure base, for example absence of clean and portable water, irregular electricity supply and bad shape of feeder roads.

2. Neglect of tourism potentials to attract revenues and job creation for the numerous unemployed youth. Example, the Yaa Asantewaa Museum and festival, Bonwire?s potentials etc.

3. The dilapidated state of the Kwaso Rural Development College, a potential University.

4. The MP has totally lost touch with his constituents as most of them do not even know him. (He only pays a visit when there is going to be an election).

5. He has also effectively divided the constituency executives to serve his own selfish interest. (Example is what was witnessed in broad day light at the last constituency delegates? conference)

We have therefore resolved to set up a campaign team to campaign against his re-election if the NPP constituency makes a mistake of electing him as their candidate for this year?s parliamentary election.
