Western Regional NDC Chairman asks Party supporters to remain loyal

Enchi (W/R), Aug 24, GNA - Dr John Frank Abu, Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Party's supporters and sympathisers to remain loyal and be resolute in their quest to regain political power in the 2008 general election. He dismissed the notion by opponents of the Party that its support base was weak and said the NDC was firmly on the ground nationwide and "growing from strength to strength".

Dr. Abu said this at a meeting with NDC executives and supporters in the Suaman constituency at Enchi after inspecting destruction caused by recent floods in the town following three days of torrential rainfall.

More than 580 houses in some 10 communities in the constituency were destroyed rendering 7,811 people homeless. Dr. Abu said the Party was working hard to overcome some of the constraints facing it in the region in the areas of transport, finance and other logistics to enhance its activities.

He told them to unite and avoid petty squabbles among them and also not to be deterred by the fact that Suaman is an orphan constituency, but they should continue to "carry on the fight until victory is achieved". Mr. Oscar Larbi, Chairman of the constituency said members were strategising to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party. 24 Aug. 07
