W/R NDC not behind Nana Konadu posters- Minister

Sekondi Oct. 28, GNA - Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Wednesday, categorically stated that, the posters of the former first lady, Nana Agyeman Kondau Rawlings bid for President in 2012, does not originate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking at a press conference organized by the NDC at Sekondi, he said the attention of the Regional Executive of the NDC has been drawn to the sudden appearance of the posters, which were pasted on walls in some parts of the Amenfi West and East Districts, and "We find the posters strange and outrageous".

Mr Aidoo said Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has not declared her intention to contest the flagbearership of the party.

"We are fully aware of our convention not to conduct flagbearer elections when there is a sitting President from our party, who is eligible to stand for a second term", he said.

Mr Aidoo said the posters constitute a futile attempt by detractors of the party to distract the attention of the members from focusing and supporting President Atta-Mills to achieve the "Better Ghana Agenda", which would develop the country.

He said the fact that the peddlers of the posters chose to hide under the cover of darkness to post such notices convinces the party that the posters could not have come from genuine members of the party. Mr Aidoo said, "We in the Western Region are convinced beyond doubt of the honest determination of our President to pursue our manifesto pledges".

"We are also aware of the extent of the under development of our region over the years, inspite of the huge contributions of the region to the national effort because of its enormous resources", Mr Aidoo said.

He said the President's efforts to lay a strong foundation to engender massive investments in the region to create employment and other economic opportunities for the people of the region have strongly "Registered with us".

"We therefore call on the mischief makers not to waste their time and effort in our region, in their unproductive attempts to distract our focus", Mr Aidoo said. 28 Oct. 10
