Voting ends successfully in Odododiodio

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - The long queues that characterized early voting in the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region on Sunday morning melted as voting came to an end successfully at exactly 1700 hours. Some eligible voters who reported after the polls closed were disappointed when they were turned away by security and electoral officials for coming late. As voting closed and ballot papers were being transported to the City Engineers' collation centre at Bukom, hundreds of political party supporters besieged the forecourt of the collating centre chanting party slogans and claiming victory for their parties and candidates. As at 2000 hours when the GNA visited some of the polling centres ballot boxes were being sent to the collation centres and results for the elections in the constituency are likely to be released in a few hours.

Some supporters of National Democratic Congress jubilated through the principal streets of the constituency chanting party slogans, carrying paraphernalia and making gestures indicating a change in government as the party's agents joined electoral officials to transport ballot boxes to the collation centre.
