The Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) Parliamentary candidate for Upper Denkyira East constituency who doubles as the party’s Central Regional Chairman, Yaw Asamoah has called on the electorates to vote against the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Nana Amoako and the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Emelia Ankomah for failing to elect Presiding Member.

The Upper Denyira Municipal Assembly in the Central Region has not been able to elect its Presiding Member due to lack of unappreciable number of votes.

Speaking to Ultimate1069.com, the CPP Parliamentary hopeful blamed supporters of NPP and NDC in the area for infiltrating the assembly system.

‘You know the assembly system is not supposed to be partisan but the NPP and NDC have infiltrated the system, we have factions in the assembly who belong to the two parties, they are unable to achieve two- thirds of the majority because both factions have their favourite candidate,’ he asserted.

He believed that the two have their personal interests that go against the utmost interest of the masses in the constituency.

‘I was wondering why the MCE representing the NDC and the MP representing NPP cannot negotiate so that a presiding member is elected. If they are not able to do this, how much more do we expect from them to represent us in Accra, where they have bigger and more complicated system,’ he asked.

He further called on residents to part ways with both the MP and the MCE to bring in someone who will represent their interest.
