Volta Region NDC declares support for Atta Mills

Ho, April 12, GNA - The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday declared its support for President John Evans Atta Mills and his candidature for the 2012 Presidential Election.

"We wholeheartedly endorse the President's candidature for the 2012 Presidential Election," Mr Kwesi Aboagye, Volta Regional Chairman of the Party declared at a press conference in Ho. The decision was taken at a meeting of regional and constituency executives, members of parliament and some ministers of state from the region.

Mr Aboagye said the party leadership in the region was convinced that with the level and trend of development being undertaken by the Atta Mills led government, Ghanaians would readily vote for him for a second term to continue the 93Better Ghana Agenda." "The achievements of the party in the past two years have clearly shown that the Government is on course to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the Volta Region."

"Developments in education, agriculture, youth employment, health and the road sectors are there for all to see," he said. Mr Aboagye cautioned that any attempt therefore to change the sitting President as the candidate for the NDC in the 2012 Presidential Election would be a political suicide. He pledged the readiness of the party in the region to ensure a resounding first round victory for President John Evans Atta Mills in the 2012 election.
