Upper East PNC members decide to support NDC

Accra, Dec 18, GNA - The People's National Convention (PNC) supporters in the Bolgatanga Constituency, Upper East has decided to support Prof.

John Evans Atta Mills, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate in the December 28, 2008 run-off. A statement signed by Mr. Fatchu Henry, Regional Secretary of the PNC said at the request of the national leadership of the party, the Upper East Regional Executives met with the party's faithful to decide as to which of the parties to support in the run-off presidential election.

It said after a thorough consideration of the matter the meeting took a ballot and the overwhelming majority of members present opted to back Prof. Atta Mills.

The statement said the move was not a merger of the two parties or an alliance but a support in line with the PNC Campaign for Change and the decision was also in line with the fact that the two parties have the philosophy of social democracy.

It added that, Prof. Atta Mills is the person who can unite and bind together Ghanaians who are now divided on political lines, saying; "We also see in him qualities of a person who is sober and stands for the marginalized in the society. So we think he is better for Ghana at this time."
