Shortage of fuel indications of failure

Koforidua, Dec. 8, GNA - The Eastern Regional Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Tawiah Boateng, has said that the shortages of essential supplies such as fuel were an indication that the ruling government was losing focus.

He said currently, there was serious shortage of kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas and sometimes petrol when the world price of petrol was stable.

Mr Boateng said for no logical reasons, thousands of teachers in basic schools in the New Juaben Municipality could not receive their salaries for the month of November, this year.

He was speaking at a meeting of the New Juaben South Constituency Branch of the NDC at Koforidua on Wednesday.

Mr Boateng said the above happenings indicated failure on the part of government and urged members of the NDC to explain such things to the electorate.

He said the national congress of the NDC for the election of the 2008 presidential candidate of would not tolerate any violence or attacks by any group of people.

Mr Boateng said the delegates to the congress would have their pictures taken and nobody would be allowed to vote for anybody. He said delegates wishing to vote by proxy should apply to the regional secretariat of the Party, which will endorse the letter and forward it to the national secretariat three days ahead of the congress. The constituency chairman of the party, Mr Andrews Awuku, said every constituency would be represented by seven delegates to the congress, including the founding member of the party.
