Politics Election Regions 16 Kumasi

Voting at a temporary polling station at Atimatim in the Kwabre West constituency was this morning disrupted for almost one hour when voters protested that the indelible ink being used was suspected to be fake. Two persons suspected to have stolen the ink pad and replaced it with the fake one were arrested by the police and one of the ink pads found on them. A voter who wanted to remain anonymous told the GNA that a few minutes after voting they detected that the ink went off and they alerted the polling agents who confronted the Supervisor, Mr. Opoku Kotei.

Mr Kotei said the incident occurred at about 0900 hours after 300 voters out of 1,998 voters had cast their ballots. He said intervention of the security officers and officers of the Electoral Commission brought calm to the place and that voting continued. He said the police were still investigating the matter. At the Light House Polling Station at Atimatim the situation was different as voting went on orderly.
