"Overseas" Constituency NDC Chooses Candidate.

Yagaba (N/R) July 1 GNA - The Yagaba-Kubori Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the West Mamprusi Dsistrict, have elected Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Tanko Ibrahim, a farmer and a businessman, as their Parliamentary candidate in this year's elections.

He beat his sole opponent, Mrs Suzana Adams, a former MP for West Mamprusi Constituency in the erstwhile NDC regime at the Party's delegates' congress held at Yagaba in the "Overseas" area of West Mamprusi District.

Out of a total number of 120 delegates, who cast their votes, 70 votes went in favour of Alhaji Ibrahim, whiles Mrs Suzana Adams polled 50 votes.

In his victory speech, Alhaji Ibrahim said he would work tirelessly to bring more development to the newly created constituency to supplement what World Vision Ghana and other non-governmental organizations are already doing in the area.

He said he would work closely with the community water and sanitation programme to bring to the doorsteps of the people good drinking water and good health.

On social infrastructure, Alhaji Ibrahim said he would work hard to open up the area through the construction of good roads linking all the communities in the area, and provide furniture for schools. He added that classroom infrastructure would be another major priority for him because he has realized that most of the school children sat under trees to learn.

Mrs. Suzana Adams conceded defeat and promised to co-operate fully with Alhaji Ibrahim to ensure victory for the NDC in the forthcoming elections.

The Regional Youth Organizer, Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan, on behalf of the Regional Chairman of NDC, told the constituency delegates that he was happy with the way the elections went on without any problems, but reminded the Party's supporters not to be complacent.

They should rather mobilise themselves and campaign very well so that the NDC would capture the Overseas Constituency seat during the December elections, Alhaji Alhassan.

He advised them to eschew violence during their campaigns so that Ghana could have a peaceful election this year.
