New Political party to bail Ghanaians out of poverty

A NEW political party, the TRADES CONGRESS PARTY (TCP) formed by astute
technocrats who understand the multifaceted problems of the country, would be
launched in Ghana in October this year and contest in future elections to be
able to direct national development with a new political system,
Socio-Capitalism, to give Ghanaians every opportunity to create and accumulate
wealth (capital).

The vision of the new party, according to the founder, Dr. Anthony Toku, a
prolific politician trained in the United States, is to build a Socio-Capitalist
State in which Ghanaians will have every opportunity to work hard enough to
create and accumulate wealth according to ones capacity and capabilities.

"Moving people from poverty to prosperity will be one of the major
pre-occupations of this new political party," the founder has emphasized.

He said the TCP will develop policies and practices that would promote this
political system and direct the country to a middle income status since TCP
cannot afford to play politics with issues that affect the lives of the people.

"It is a system that will eliminate abject poverty and any sign of
underdevelopment," Dr. Toku has said.

He noted that Ghanaians cannot afford to live in poverty and politicians cannot
play politics with issues that affect the lives of the people.

The founder of the new political party has stated its time to move the people of
Ghana from poverty to prosperity after 53 years of independence.

He has lamented that the country needs a clear cut political agenda upon which
policies can be developed to move the country forward.

Dr. Toku’s concerns stem from that the fact that no political party, since the
overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has clearly defined the kind of country they
want to build.

Trades Congress Party (formerly Traditional Congress Party), he said, will focus
on the development and management of social factors such as corruption,
education, health, technology, transportation, housing, public institutions,
water supply, electricity supply and other social factors that must work in
concert with capital factors to engage everybody to create and accumulate
wealth.

With a total breakdown of the moral fabric of the society which needs to be
addressed, a TCP government will direct immense resources toward the development
of human resources which have been neglected resulting in inefficiency leading
to cumbersome bureaucracies in providing service to the public.

Dr. Toku has said public institutions will be strengthened by getting rid of
social ills that have impeded development and advancement. These institutions
will be staffed with highly qualified individuals with a renewed mindset and the
capacity to transform the institutions. Public officers engaged in social ills
will be considered as nation wreckers and will pay heavily for their acts.

"Under a Socio-capitalist state, politicians will become servants of the people
and not lords to be served. They will be required to eschew bribery and
corruption and other ills of the society," he said. E N D.
