NPP to sue EC, if ...

it goes ahead with the re-collation of Pru election results

Sunyani, Dec. 21, GNA - The Brong Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has threatened to sue the Electoral Commission if the re-collation of the Pru Constituency election result scheduled for tomorrow December 21, is carried out.

A statement issued by the Secretariat and signed by Mr Anthony Kofi K. Kusi, regional secretary was copied to the Regional Electoral Director of Electoral Commission, the Regional Commander of Ghana Police Service, Regional Director of Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), the Regional Minister, the commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion, the Regional secretaries of all political parties and the Media.

It said the stand taken by the Electoral Commission is unacceptable, collusion, unfair and improper adding that the action of the commission suggests that the Electoral Commission is being manipulated or dictated to by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP would not be a party of the collusion and would therefore, not be available at the proposed re-collation, it said and stressed that "We believe that in a democratic society like ours, the remedy available to any aggrieved person under both Constitution Instrument (CI15) and PNDC Law 284 is to go to court".
