NPP holds workshop for its Regional Executives

Koforidua Aug. 16, GNA- A three-day capacity building workshop for Regional secretaries and assistants, organisers, youth and women's organisers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) opened at Koforidua on Friday.
The workshop will make party officials more visible and functional by streamlining and strengthening the NPP structures and relevant political strategies and skills in party organisation. General Secretary of the party, Mr Dan Botwe said the party believes in multi-party democracy and committed to uphold it and urged all those who also believe in it sustain it.
He said the NPP, which has a tradition of cherished democracy and respect the ideas and the rights of the people in the society. Mr Botwe said democracy in Ghana should not only be for winning general elections but all structures of the various political parties must be maintained for the four years that any party is in power. He said political parties are very important structures which needed to be given due recognition for them to function effectively. The General Secretary directed that each regional secretariat should have a planning programme and form functional research and information committees.
He said the workshop, which is the first in a series will rotate from region to region.
National Organiser of the party, Mr Lord Commey said the workshop will enable the party to consolidate its power in the 2004 elections The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Nana Adi Ankamah expressed the hope that the party will win the 2004 elections with 140 Parliamentary seats. Aug. 15, 03
