NPP foot soldiers on mobilization drive - Teye

Accra, Aug 12, GNA - The Foot Soldiers Welfare Association of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is to embark on a nationwide exercise to organize members for the 2008 general elections.

This was stated by the National Coordinator of the Association, Mr Eddie Teye at a meeting in Accra with the Regional Coordinators to plan for the inauguration of the Association as well as how to re-invigorate the disenchanted members.

He said the primary concern of the Association was to motivate disenchanted foot soldiers to get actively involved in the electioneering campaign, as efforts were been made to address their concerns.

He stressed that the Association was not a pressure group to cause trouble in the party but said, however, that members with genuine grievances would be addressed.

Mr Teye however, appealed to them to exercise patience for the Association to address some of their concerns, saying, "whatever huge harvest the fishing vessel would catch at sea, the canoe fisherman would also have their catch".

He said the Association was considering opening foodstuff shops in the regions to go into the hinterland to purchase items for sale to ensure food security and to "put some money into the pockets of members".

Mr John Ado Tetteh, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator, said the Association was not formed to support any aspirant but to build on the support of the party for anyone who emerged as the Flag-bearer. He stated that the Association had come to stay and urged all foot soldiers of the party to join as efforts were being made to revive all constituencies during the mobilisation drive. 12 Aug 07
