NCCE not a political organisation

Wassa Nsuopon (W/R), May 6, GNA - Mr. Daniel Tulashie, Wassa Amenfi East District Field Officer of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has stated that the organisation was not affiliated to any political party.

He said, "We have been mandated constitutionally to sensitise the citizens on their rights and responsibilities". Mr. Tulashie was speaking at a durbar to round of activities marking this year's constitution week on the theme, "Local participation in social auditing and poverty reduction" at Wassa Nsuopon near Wassa Akropong on Friday

He called on the people to follow the activities of the commission in the district to enable them to be abreast with information on the constitution and to participate in the voter registration exercise being conducted by the Electoral Commission. Mr Alex Mensah, Deputy District Coordinating Director, urged the people to take the education of their wards seriously, to minimise poverty in the district.

Mr. Dennis Owusu-Boateng, District Planning Officer, asked the people to form groups to enable them to have access to the district's micro loan scheme.

Nana Kwaku Fosu III, Chief of Nsuopong, urged the NCCE to make the constitution available in area council offices for the people to have access to make the work of the commission more profitable to the people.
