MP for Bantama initiates projects for constituents

Kumasi, Oct. 20, GNA - Madam Abenaa Dapaah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, has committed her share of the MPs District Assemblies' Common Fund, to a number of projects in her constituency. The projects include the construction of a canteen for the North Suntreso Government Hospital, library complex for a cluster of schools at Kropo and drilling of boreholes in five selected communities. The beneficiary communities are Ohwim, Mpatasie, Amanfrom, Hwediem and Bohyen.

Madam Dapaah announced this at a sod-cutting ceremony for work to begin on the construction of a 28- seater water- closet toilet facility and four bath houses at Bantama in Kumasi.

She said the project estimated at the cost of GH¢100,000, is being funded through the Highly Indebted Poor Countries Fund. The MP said the strategic position of Bantama demanded the construction of modern toilet facilities to improve the sanitation in the area to avoid the outbreak of communicable diseases.

Madam Dapaah stressed the need for the people to ensure proper hygiene and environmental cleanliness.

She appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to support the community to rehabilitate the toilet facilities near the Nurses' quarters at Bantama.

The MP said when the project is completed it would be manned by a seven-member committee made up of unit committee and assembly members and other stakeholders to oversee the effective and efficient use of the facility.

Nana Domfeh Baah, Twafohene of Bantama, appealed to Messrs Amantem Ventures, contractors working on the project to work hard to ensure that is completed on time.
