Let us support former Parliamentarian to win Agona West seat -

Frimpong-Manso

Agona Swedru, Aug. 9, GNA - A group "Friends of Samuel Oppong" former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Agona West 1996-2000, has appealed for more support to win the seat as an Independent Candidate in Election 2008.

Mr Kwame Frimpong-Manso, Spokesman for the group told Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru on Friday that after critical analysis there had not been improvement in the socio-economic development of Swedru Municipality.

He pledged the group's commitment to campaign and support Mr Oppong the only person who could complement government's efforts to accelerate development in the area.

Mr Frimpong-Manso said people in the constituency needed a Parliamentarian who would be available for deliberations on issues affecting development in the area, adding "It is therefore important for the former Parliamentarian to join the political race to salvage the area from its present state of under development".

He called on the electorate to support and vote for Mr Oppong to win the seat on December 7. When GNA contacted Mr Oppong, he pledged to serve the people and gave the assurance that his campaign would be launched soon. The incumbent Member of Parliament for the area is Mr Samuel Obodai, who is also Deputy Central Regional Minister. Papa Zabairu is the NDC Parliamentary Aspirant for the constituency. 09 Aug. 08
