Ghana needs inspirational leadership - CPP candidate

Ho, July 25, GNA - Mr Michael Kosi Dedey, Convention Peoples Party Parliamentary Candidate for Ho-Central, on Saturday said lack of inspirational political leadership and low consciousness among the people were the major obstacles to national development.

Addressing a news conference to outline his vision Mr Dedey said he provide inspirational leadership and help in raising the consciousness of the people to believe in themselves.

"Nkrumaism tells us that we are a people with a mind of our own and capable of anything we set ourselves to," he said.

He noted that there was despondency with people looking outside their domain for instant solutions to their problems, saying that, "but we must realise that we alone can make the positive changes we look forward to in our lives under the banner of inspirational leadership".

Mr Dedey observed that the youth who constituted the largest proportion of the population were frustrated since they saw no future for themselves.

The candidate who is a Mechanical Engineer said his pre-occupation would be to work towards making farming rewarding, encourage the youth to seize every opportunity to attain high educational standards and to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

He said the CPP remained the only party capable of reconciling Ghanaians because it was the only party that advocated and demonstrated its commitment to building Ghana into "one nation with one people."

Mr Dedey urged the electorate to vote for the CPP in the 2004 elections because the NPP was incapable of reconciling the nation neither would the NDC have anything to do with the recommendations the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) would come out with.

He said the society had to "dictate the type of politicians it wants to govern it".

Mr Prince Ahiadzro, Volta Regional Chairman, urged Journalists to be cautious about their reports, saying that, it was not everything politicians say that should be brought into public domain because of the harm some of such pronouncements could cause.

" We are nearing the hot season do not report as if the situation is explosive," he said.

Mr Ahiadzro said the CPP remained the only party with a strong appeal to the people because of its history and predicted that "many Nkrumaists who have strayed from the party" would rejoin it since CPP was the true national party.
