District Level Elections statistics for Volta Region

Ho, Aug 17, GNA - Out of a total of 1,760 units under the local government system in the Volta Region, 592 returned no candidates in the last nomination exercise towards the impending District Assembly and Unit Committee elections.

Statistics made available to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday by the Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) indicated that there were a total of 9,192 nominees for the Unit Committee out of which 1,681 were women.

There will be contests in 242 units where there were more than 10 contestants while 283 other units will have 10 candidates unopposed. Under the law, there are 10 positions for each unit committee.
