CPP to conduct primaries in Brong-Ahafo Region

Sunyani, June 24, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Dwomoh, Brong-Ahafo Regional Organizer of the Conventions Peoples' Party (CPP), on Tuesday said plans are underway to elect parliamentary candidates in all the 24 constituencies in the region.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, he said the party had finished holding primaries in three constituencies and more than 18 aspirants had filed their nominations for 12 constituencies.

He said aspirants for the other nine constituencies are yet to be vetted and that nominations are still open for any interested persons. "People are increasingly showing interest in CPP and are willing to contest this year's election in the name of our party because they understand our policies."

Mr. Dwomoh said logistical shortfall and financial problems made it impossible for the party to reach people in the rural areas and that these were the major challenges that confronted the party in previous years. "The CPP has taken the necessary steps to address such issues to secure the party victory in the forth coming elections", he said and called for unity in the party.
