CPP elects Ablekuma South parliamentary aspirant

Mrs Dede Amanor-Wilks, a development specialist, was at the weekend elected unopposed as Convention People’s Party (CPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Ablekuma South Constituency in the forthcoming General Election, in Accra.

The aspirant, who worked with the Third World Communication in London, the African Concord and West African magazines; holds MSc and MPhil Degrees in Economic History from the London School of Economics.

Mrs Amanor-Wilks is currently the Vice President of the Association of African Women for Research and Development, Ghana Chapter.

Dr. Abu Sakara Foster, Flagbearer of the CPP, congratulated the aspirant for pursuing her professional career before venturing into politics and promised to support her with logistics to enable her win the seat.

Dr. Sakara said Ghana must stop borrowing and rather invest in institutions and infrastructure to create jobs for Ghanaians.

He stressed that “You cannot keep borrowing and expect to build a better economy.”

Dr. Sakara called on party supporters to begin a house-to-house campaign, to enable the CPP to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress.

Mrs Amanor-Wilks said she would bring development to the constituency and address the plight of women to bring positive change in their lives if elected as Member of Parliament.**
