Bagbin is honest, passionate about Parliament – Minority Leader

The Minority Leader of Ghana’s parliament has heaped praises on newly sworn-in majority leader, Alban Bagbin, describing him as an honest man whose integrity holds well for the law-making chamber.

According to Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Bagbin is one of the few politicians in the country who are truly passionate about the development of parliament.

“Bagbin understands parliamentary rules. I have worked with him for years, and he is passionate about the progress of parliament. He is an honest person who will help parliament grow,” Mensa-Bonsu told Oman FM, Thursday.

However, the minority leader believes Bagbin must be made a cabinet minister to enable him deliver efficiently on the new job. He said it will be difficult for him to be an effective leader of government business if he lacks knowledge of government plans at the cabinet level.

Mr Babgin was the Majority Leader in Parliament in 2009 but was appointed Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing following a cabinet reshuffle by President Atta Mills (late) in January 2010.
