Alan's Boys want NPP to lose in 2016 -CONAA

The Crusaders of Nana Akufo-Addo (CONAA) are disheartened by how after numerous calls by several elders and leaders in the NPP for cool heads in promoting various candidates for the upcoming flagbearership contest of our great party, the Get Alan Kyeremanten Elected (GAKE) group, the main campaign vehicle for Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s flagbearership bid continues to run down our two time flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in very unfortunate and vitriolic forms.

It is as if GAKE thinks the only way that it can succeed in making Alan popular is to abuse Akufo-Addo. Just this morning, June 4, GAKE released their latest attack on Akufo-Addo, titled “Without Alan NPP Will Lose 2016”.

Coming after the mass condemnation of a previous one that also brought the death of the late President in, GAKE said in today’s statement, “we cannot afford to subject Ghanaians to another sour state funeral like we experienced with Mills because the propensity of olu dying on the seat is high, once we can avoid it by simply parking the old stale goods away then it must be done.”

This is plane insanity and we are surprised that a man known for his decency like Alan Kyerematen is happy to allow this to define his third bid to lead the NPP. Our advice to him is that he must do something before his campaign dies with GAKE. But, we will not allow his campaign to go down with that of the man that God has chosen to rescue Ghanaians from the economic and leadership mess that we are in. And that man, we believe and know is Nana Akufo-Addo. And, what God has planned no amount of smears can destroy.

Yet, we see what GAKE is allowed to as a very dangerous trend that must be stopped before the campaign proper starts. If all the other aspirants for the flagbearership decide to do so and attack and attack Akufo-Addo, knowing too well that he is the most popular choice of the party and country, then can we honestly say that we want power in 2016?

It is very very clear to every discerning Ghanaian that Akufo-Addo will win the flagbearership contest and that Ghanaians are really determined to help him become President and deliver the vision that we all know he has for Ghana.

But, are we telling that country that Akufo-Addo’s real enemies are within his party? The focus is not Akufo-Addo but who is best placed to lead our great party to victory and give the country the leadership that it deserves. You can’t hate Akufo-Addo, the man that most people love, and claim you love the party. It does not make any sense.

While we welcome competition, we believe if those seeking to contest Akufo-Addo, in spite of all the writings on the wall, are true to their commitment to the party, then they will make double sure that all their supporters keep the campaign clean so that we can increase our chances for 2016 no matter who wins.

We are most saddened however, but not so much by the conduct of GAKE, a group led by people we can, excuse us to say, describe as nobodies in the scheme of things. We are most saddened by the silence of Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng and his reluctance to call his only known campaign machinery to order and his subtle endorsement of their constant nasty attacks on Nana Akufo-Addo by his silence which suggests that he is happy with GAKE and their operations.

On Tuesday, June 3, when Nana Yaw Ampratwum, a spokesperson was asked on Adom FM how come Mr Kyeremanteng was yet to specifically condemn GAKE, his answer was most revealing. He said, Alan was not interested in singling out GAKE, “because if we do that another group can also emerge and do the same thing.” Hmmm…

We wish to remind GAKE and all their backers that it is God who gives and takes life and God is the final arbiter in the affairs of man. What we do know and cannot doubt is that, if it is God’s will that Nana must win the 2016 elections to serve Ghana and change the course of our history for generations unborn, then that will come to pass.

GAKEs death wishes, their insults, lies and attacks on one of our most respected leader who has wholeheartedly served our party and country will not change God’s plans and command.

We wish to remind GAKE and their backers that no active politician in our country today has served the people of this country in various roles and causes like Nana Akufo-Addo has done and continue to do. He is selfless, peaceful, committed to the party, and determined to win and give Ghana the leadership it needs to grow and enrich the lives of the masses.

Nana Akufo-Addo is loved by the NPP and most Ghanaians because of his selflessness. He has given his all and ignored all the potential risks to his life and his family not only in the service of Ghana but also our party, the NPP.

If as a result of a desire to become flagbearer, Mr. Kyeremanteng should allow his followers to run down this noble man and go to the extent of wishing for his death as a political tool, then we leave Mr. Kyeremanteng and his GAKE to their conscience.

We of CONAA have decided not to respond in like manner to all the insults being poured on Nana Akufo-Addo because we have heard the sane counsel of NPP members and concerned Ghanaians who want a clean campaign which will produce a candidate who can win power for the party and deliver the masses from the NDCs incompetence and corruption. But, let no one take us for a ride. We are more than them and we can hit harder. But for what purpose?

We are of no doubt that Nana Akufo-Addo is that man NPP delegates and Ghanaians in general are looking for, we will continue to campaign for him and extol his credentials and vision and appeal to the over 140,000 NPP delegates to support and elect him as flagbearer. We know that with God on our side, with the support of the party and Ghanaians in general, we shall emerge victorious in 2016.

For now, we can only appeal to Mr. Kyeremanteng once again to call his men to order, whether he accepts our appeal or whether he continues to subtly endorse their mode of operation is entirely in his hands but he should always remember that the delegates, members and sympathizers of the NPP are all watching and will judge at the appropriate time.
