Chief helps his people to register with NHIS

Krobo (B/A), Sept 30, GNA - Oyeadeeye Asa Akompanin II, Chief of Krobo and Kyidomhene of Techiman Traditional Area, has released two million cedis to cover the cost of registration of 50 persons who registered with the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

Each of those registered people received a refund of 40,000 cedis out of a registration fee of 80,000 cedis.

Oyeadeeye Akompanin said this at a durbar to mark the "Nwonafie" yam festival of the chief and people of Krobo under the theme "Health Insurance, a key to good health".

He said the NHIS was unique and that it had come to rescue the poor who had to toil before settling their medical bills at hospitals.

Oyeadeeye Akompanin said there could not be development in a community if there were no health facilities to ensure the good health of the people and urged them to consider the scheme as a measure of ensuring accelerated development and not to politicise it. On development projects, he said work had started on a 200 million cedis library.

Oyeadeeye Akompanin said Mr Alex Kyeremeh, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, had donated 100 bags of cement, 15 packets of roofing sheets and 40 gallons of paint for the project. He said land had been also been allocated for the construction of a museum in the area.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, advised the people especially those in leadership positions not to feel disquiet about negative remarks about but to continue to offer good services.

The Omanhene lauded the efforts the chief and his people were making to enhance the development of the area through the provision of infrastructure.

Mr Kyeremeh said 15 students in tertiary institutions had been supported with 500,000 cedis each, while 12 brilliant but needy children at Asuogyaman and Techiman Secondary schools had also been given 300,000 cedis each in a move to help raise education in the constituency. The MP appealed to traditional authorities to support the youth so they could contribute positively to the community's development.
