TB could cause infertility in women

Koforidua, Nov. 22, GNA-Tuberculosis (TB) could affect any part of the body and not only the lungs and could cause infertility in women, when it affects the womb.
A student of the School of Radiography, Korle-Bu, Mr Mathias Yeli Ahia made these observation at a lecture at the Koforidua Nursing and Midwife Training College on Friday as part of activities marking the celebration of the School of Radiography Week. The theme for the celebration was "Radiography, Effective Tool for TB Management"
He said TB could spread fast and for every one TB patient, there were 15 other people infected with the disease. Mr Benard Botwe also of the same school, called for early treatment of TB patients to check the spread and to save life. He observed that, though the treatment of TB is free, many people were not aware and called for the intensification of education on TB and its management.
Mr Jonathan Awuku of the School of Radiology said improper treatment of TB could make the virus to develop resistance to the drugs and make it difficult for treatment.
