Melcom Care Foundation donates to five hospitals

Melcom Care Foundation, the charity wing of the Melcom Group, has presented to medical equipment to five hospitals in the Greater Accra Region.

The items comprising 15 wheel chairs, 15 crutches and five purifiers were donated to the Achimota Hospital, Ridge Hospital, La General Hospital, Police Hospital and the LEKMA Hospital.

Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo, Director of Communications of Melcom Group of Companies, said under the umbrella of its Foundation, the Group of Companies declared a one year outreach programme of giving back to society from 2013 to climax its Silver Jubilee Celebration in October 2014.

He said to ensure the celebrations have an impact on Ghana’s developmental efforts, two key areas of welfare support had been identified and are being pursued.

He said the Foundation donated an ambulance to the 37th Military Hospital, renovated the Maternity Ward of the Military Hospital and also sponsored a blood donation campaign yielding 630 pints of blood in support of the National Blood Service on July 30.

Mr. Avenorgbo said the donation would by no means resolve the burden of health care and equipment inadequacy, however it was a beginning that could, through cooperation, lead to the bigger health service inputs.

Madam Josephine Gyamfi, Administrative Manager of the La General Hospital, expressed gratitude to the Foundation.

Each of hospital received three wheel chairs, three crutches and one purifier.
