Mothers in Gomoa asked to visit nutrition centre for advice

Apam (C/R), July 19, GNA - The Officer In-charge of the Apam Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre, Miss Abigail Okine has appealed to mothers to visit the Centre for education on good nutrition and health of their children. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Apam, Miss Okine

said services at the centre is free. She said forty-seven malnutrition cases were handled by the centre between January and June 2009.

Miss Okine said the children who were suffering from Kwashiorkor and underweight were made up of 23 boys and 24 girls. They were from Apam, Gomoa Odina, Mumford, Gomoa Onyadze, Gomoa Buduatta, Gomoa Obuasi and Gomoa Osedzi. She said education was given to mothers on the three components of food needed by the body, namely, food for body building, energy giving and protection.
