Woman gives birth to quadruplets

Tarkwa (W/R), April 17, GNA- Madam Lariba Ayiba, a 29 year old mother of Dwira Ampansee in the Wassa West District delivered quadruplets with the assistance of her husband.

The bouncing babies who are on admission at the Tarkwa Government Hospital are made up of a girl and three boys.

Hospital authorities say the quadruplets are doing fine. Daniel Kojo Ayiba, the husband attributed the successful delivery to God's intervention.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ayiba said when the wife took seed he sent her to the Eikwe hospital for pre-natal care and returned to their village.

He said that on the day of the delivery, he was preparing fufu for the wife, when she called that she was in labour. Ayiba said he prayed for God's intervention and was able to assist her wife to deliver three children.

He said after the third child had been delivered, he left the wife alone in the village and rushed to inform a church member about three kilometres away.

He said the church member helped to mobilise a vehicle to go and convey the wife and the babies to the Tarkwa Government Hospital. On reaching the village they realised that the wife had delivered the forth baby.

He said they already have three children and with the birth of the quadruplets he would find it difficult to cater for them all and pleaded for assistance from the public. Madam Ayiba said she was fit and described her delivery as the work of God, who operated her to be able to give birth to four babies without a doctor or nurse.
