Veep receives donation towards Neuro Science Hospital

Accra, June 13, GNA- Three corporate organisations on Wednesday donated over one billion cedis towards the establishment of a Neuro Science Centre at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, following an appeal made by Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Mr. Ernest Abankroh, Country Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana presented a cheque for 100,000 dollars to the Vice President, while Mr Reggie Sackey-Addo, Chief Accountant of Irani Brothers handed over a cheque for 250 million cedis (25,000 Ghana cedi). Mr. Akuffo Owoo, Administrative Director of Naja David Group also offered a cheque for 100 million cedis (10,000 Ghana Cedi). Mr Abankoh said the gift was part of the social investment initiative of AngloGold.

"It is in this light that we have come today to fulfil our pledge by presenting the donation of 100,000 dollars for what we consider a most worthy cause-the construction of a modern Neuro Science Hospital, which we understand will be the biggest of such facility in West Africa," he said.

Vice President Mahama commended the three organisations for their kind gesture and spread his arms for more donations towards the project. He said neuro science facilities were essential component of medical care, especially during emergencies.
