A multi-million cedi polyclinic, was inaugurated by President John Mahama at Wamfie, in the Dormaa East District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Its facilities include mother and child health post, obstetrics wing, consultation rooms, wards/in-patient area, OPD area, and an administrative block.

Inaugurating it, President Mahama stressed the government’s determination to bring health care closer to the doorsteps of the people.

He said apart from the Wamfie polyclinic, four more of its kind would be built in the Brong-Ahafo Region, adding that similar ones had been planned for the Greater Accra Region, which would have 10 of such facilities, and five for the Central Region.

Mr. Mahama, who was conducted round the wards and departments of the polyclinic, commended the contractors for working round the clock to complete the project on time.

Earlier at a durbar with the chiefs and people of the Wamfie traditional area, the President pledged to address out-standing developmental challenges one at a time, explaining that all the challenges could not be addressed at a go.

Barima Owusu Adjei, Kontihene of the Dormaa traditional area, appealed to the government to allocate an ambulance to the new polyclinic for referral purposes.

He thanked the government for the electrification and water projects undertaken in the town.

The Kontihene, however, asked for a fire service post and stressed the need to start work on the Gambia No. 2 and Kyeremasu roads.
