Chairman and Executive Director of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Mr. Samuel Amo Tobbin, has said Easter a season of showing kindness to the needy and has implored Christians to do as such.

According to the Executive Director, the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ was borne out of love and kindness for humanity thus the real reason for the season and to show love and kindness to everyone especially the poor.

He made the call at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Saturday as he visited the facility to foot the medical bills of patients who had been admitted at the hospital but could not afford the cost of their medication.

Chairman Tobbin paid the bills for over 50 patients , who had been detained for nonpayment of medical bills at the hospital . He again, cleared the bills of nursing mothers , who could not pay their bills after delivery. After footing the bills, he also gave them some unspecified amounts of cash .

In an interview with Atinkaonline, Mr. Amo Tobbin said, "As Christians we must show love during this season to mark the death and resurrection of Christ, our Lord. Let’s extend a hand of kindness to all those who may need one. By so doing, their lives will hugely be impacted by the crucifixion and death of Christ, our Lord."

At Maternity Ward, an extremely surprised 16- year - old lactating mother broke down in tears as her medical bills were paid and was given Ghc500 to go home.

She disclosed, “I have been here for the past three months because my family and supposed husband had literally deserted me because they are overwhelmed by the bills. I came all the from Mamfe in the Eastern Region. I am so grateful for this kind gesture."

She was one of the 100 nursing members who got support from chairman Tobbin . Chairman and his wife, Mrs. Mercy Araba Sika Tobbin prayed with some of the patients who were in serious condition .

Chairman Tobbin and the Tobinco Foundation will on Monday visit patients at the 37 Military, Ridge and Police Hospitals. The team will also pay their medical bills.
